What information does this Financial Services Guide contain?
This Financial Services Guide (“FSG”) contains important information about:
• who we are;
• the services and types of financial products we offer;
• details on how you can instruct us in relation to our services and products;
• how we are paid;
• any associations or relationships we may have with financial product issuers and details of any potential conflicts of interest;
• our internal and external dispute resolution procedures and how you can access them; and
• how we can be contacted.
If you choose to use any of our services and products, you may receive other disclosure documents. It is our current policy to only provide general advice. Should this policy change, a Statement of Advice (“SoA”) will be provided to you if we provide you with personal financial product advice (rather than general financial product advice). Personal financial product advice is advice that takes into account one or more of your objectives, financial situation and needs or may reasonably be expected to have done so.
The SoA will contain the advice, the basis on which it is given and other information such as our fees and any associations we have with financial product issuers or other parties which may have influenced the advice.
If we provide further personal advice to you and your personal circumstances have not significantly changed, and that further advice is related to the advice provided to you in a previous SoA, and the further advice is not in writing, you may request a copy of the record we make of that further advice at any time up to 7 years from the date the further advice was provided.
If we provide you personal advice and recommend to you a particular financial product, you may also receive a Product Disclosure Statement (“PDS”) prepared by the product issuer which will contain information about the particular product, including any relevant terms, significant risks and details of other fees and charges which may apply. This document will be provided to assist you in making an informed decision about that product.
What is the purpose of this Financial Services Guide?
The purpose of this FSG is to inform you of the financial services we offer to help you decide whether to use these services. This FSG provides you with key information about the type of services that we offer to ensure that you receive the information to assist you in making an informed decision about whether you wish to use the financial services that are offered by Reef Capital Coaching Pty Limited (“Reef Capital Coaching”, “we”, “our” or “us”).
Under the Corporations Act we are obliged to provide you with this FSG.
Who is responsible for the Financial Services provided?
Reef Capital Coaching will be providing the financial services to you through its representatives. Reef Capital Coaching is responsible for the actions of its representatives and the financial services provided. We hold an Australian Financial Services Licence issued by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (AFS Licence No: 288200).
Who is Reef Capital Coaching?
Reef Capital Coaching commenced its operations in 1998 and is a company structured to provide education and advisory services together with dealing (by arrangement) services to retail and wholesale clients in the securities, foreign exchange and derivatives markets. Reef Capital Coaching is owned and operated by the Directors, Nicholas and Patricia Radge. On 13th June 2007 Reef Capital Coaching registered, and began using, the trading name “The Chartist”. On 23rd August 2011 Reef Capital Coaching registered the trading name NickRadge.com and Trade Long Term on 9th March 2017.
What kinds of Financial Services are we authorised to provide and what kinds of Financial Products do those services relate to?
Reef Capital Coaching is authorised by its AFS Licence to provide the following financial services:
Provide Financial Product Advice with respect to the following classes of financial products:
(a) derivatives; and
(b) foreign exchange contracts, and
Deal in a financial product by:
(i) arranging for another person to issue, apply for, acquire, vary or dispose of a financial product in respect of the following classes of financial products:
(a) derivatives; and
(b) foreign exchange contracts; and
(ii) arranging for another person to apply for, acquire, vary or dispose of financial products in respect of the following classes of financial products:
(b) foreign exchange contracts, and
Reef Capital Coaching is authorised to provide advice and dealing (by arrangement) services in the following types of derivatives:
(a) Futures Contracts – Reef Capital Coaching will advise and deal in the instrument formerly known as a “futures contract”. Reef Capital Coaching will provide advisory and dealing (by arrangement) services in all local futures markets, predominantly the ASX 24 market (previously the Sydney Futures Exchange) but also the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) and also international futures markets. This includes all futures and options traded on a regulated exchange.
(b) Contract for Difference (CFDs) – a CFD is an agreement by which a person can make a profit or loss from changes in the market price of the underlying asset of the CFD, without actually owning that underlying asset or having any interest in it.
A CFD is not traded on an exchange. As with futures contracts, CFDs are traded on a margined basis and classified as an Over the Counter (OTC) derivative product in accordance with s761D of the Corporations Act. A CFD is a derivative product because the value of the CFD is derived from the value or price of the underlying asset.
(c) Foreign Exchange Contracts (FX) – Reef Capital Coaching will advise and deal in global foreign exchange markets including all spot, inter bank and forward markets.
Reef Capital Coaching is also authorised to provide advice and deals in securities listed on the ASX together with securities listed in international exchanges (predominantly those located in the United States).
We provide our advisory services in the following ways:
(i) We offer a membership service at www.thechartist.com.au which provides the client with private web access to our website. Clients are able to view our latest trading advice (recommendations) and market updates.
Clients are able to access the secure password protected website for daily advice and/or recommendations provided by Reef Capital Coaching. Clients will then be able to analyse and adjust the trading advice to their own situation. A key advantage of the service is that clients are able to access our advice from any computer in the world. This means that the client is not tied to a particular computer and is able to access our advice at anytime, anywhere.
(ii) We offer a membership service at www.tradelongterm.com where members can login to view Nick Radge’s monthly US momentum strategy. Trade Long Term provides the ability for members to watch a professional trader trade his personal account.
(iii) Newsletters, videos and articles are posted on our website to assist clients with their trading needs. These items may contain general trade recommendations and educational material. Subscribers with private web access automatically have access to these items.
(iv) “Face-to-face” seminars and also “webinars” are conducted from time to time in which students are provided with trading education and potentially general advice.
(v) We offer a Trading System Mentor Course where students learn to design, code and execute their own trading systems. In conducing this course, students may be provided with general advice.
Who do we act for when providing these services?
Reef Capital Coaching acts as principal when providing financial product advice.
Although authorised to provide dealing (by arrangement) services, it is our current policy not to do so, Should this policy change, then Reef Capital Coaching will acts as agent (of the client) when providing dealing (by arrangement) services.
How can you give us instructions?
It is our current policy that Reef Capital Coaching does not accept instructions from clients to deal in a financial product.
Should you wish to act on the advice provided by us you should give your instructions to another AFS Licensee authorised to transact on your behalf.
How is my personal information dealt with?
How are we remunerated for the services we provide?
Reef Capital Coaching is remunerated for the services we provide as follows:
(i) by charging a membership fee for The Chartist, in advance. These fees vary depending on the type of membership and are between $55 and $120 per month or between $605 and $1,320 per year. This fee provides the client with different levels of private web access to our website to view our latest trading advice (recommendations), market updates, charting analysis and resources such as webinars and articles.
(ii) by charging an annual subscription fee of US$495 for Trade Long Term. This fee provides the client with access to Nick Radge’s personal US Momentum trading strategy and positions.
(iii) by charging a course fee for its educational services. These fees vary depending on the type of course and range from $34 to $15,250;
(iv) from the sale of trading and investment books and eBooks;
(v) by charging conference and seminar fees which vary depending on the length of the seminar and range from $200 to $4,500 (GST inclusive);
(vi) by charging an hourly rate of $330 for private consultation or trading system review and $110 for Amibroker coding and on-demand chart analysis.
(vii) by receiving a rebate of 40% of the initial signup fee from Norgate Data for referrals.
(viii) by receiving a 25% commission from Ontraport for referrals.
How are representatives of Reef Capital Coaching remunerated?
Employees of Reef Capital Coaching are paid a salary and may also receive a discretionary bonus.
Reef Capital Coaching has also appointed Authorised Representatives and these representatives are paid a fee of $90 per chart analysis they provide.
Do you have any associations & relationships with others?
Reef Capital Coaching has referral and introductory relationships with:

Norgate Investor Services provide Norgate Data. Norgate Data is an end-of-day data update services, and historical data, for selected exchanges and markets across stocks, futures and FX.
Ontraport provide Customer Relationship Management, sales and marketing software.
An introduction may be made to Norgate or Ontraport via our website, email, newsletter, phone or seminar attendance. The decision to acquire any products that are provided by Norgate or Ontraport, or whether you wish to use the services of either is solely your decision. Reef Capital Coaching does not provide advice in respect of any arrangements you may have with Norgate or Ontraport nor do we advise you personally or otherwise to accept the services of Norgate or Ontraport.
Notwithstanding these relationships or associations, they do not influence us in providing you with our financial services. Clients are not obliged to use the services of any company which we introduce or refer to clients for other services.
What do I do if I have a complaint?
We want to know about any problems or concerns you may have with our service so we can take steps to resolve the issue. We have internal and external dispute resolution procedures to resolve complaints from clients. A copy of these procedures may be obtained by contacting us and requesting a copy.
Initially, all complaints will be handled and investigated internally. Should you feel dissatisfied with the outcome, you have the ability to escalate your concerns to an external body for a resolution.
If you have a complaint about the financial services provided to you, please take the following steps:
1. Contact us to inform us about your complaint and discuss your concerns. You may do this by telephone, email or letter.
2. All complaints will be properly handled and investigated promptly. We will try to resolve your complaint quickly and fairly.
3. If you are dissatisfied with the outcome, you have the right to complain to the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (“AFCA”) who may be contacted on 1800 931 678, by email to firstname.lastname@example.org or in writing at G.P.O. Box 3, Melbourne VIC 3001.
Reef Capital Coaching is a member of this complaints resolution scheme and our membership number is 12128.
4. You can contact the Australian Securities and Investments Commission on 1300 300 630. This is a Freecall Infoline. This is another alternative that you may use to make a complaint and obtain information about your rights.
Do you have any insurance arrangements?
Reef Capital Coaching has professional indemnity (“PI”) insurance arrangements in place as required under s912B of the Corporations Act 2001. Our PI insurance takes into account the nature and volume of our business, the number of clients and kind of clients we have, our employees and the maximum potential extent of liability.
Our PI insurance also covers claims in relation to the conduct of employees and representatives who no longer work for us but who did at the time of the relevant conduct.
