Simulated Trading by Nick Radge

Watch Nick Radge trade a new strategy

At Noosapalooza® 2017 Nick Radge ran a simulated trading session. The idea was for traders to watch a trade evolve and therefore how to manage a trade in real time.

Nick uses Amibroker with Norgate Data to run his systems. Nick’s daily routine is quite simple; he runs his Australian stock market (ASX) strategies in the evening, places his trades for the opening auction the following day then switches his focus to something else. In the morning (Australian time) he runs his US strategies.

Nick spends the majority of his time researching and testing systems. Once he finds something that appears robust he runs Monte Carlo simulations to test the strategy over hundreds of time frames and scenarios. When he eventually settles on a system that appears to be sound, he will commit money to it. He will sometimes trade a strategy behind the scenes to see if it is worth releasing to members of The Chartist.

So why run a simulated trading session? Noosapalooza® delegates are keen to see and understand the way Nick Radge’s mind works. They want to absorb as much information from Nick as they can during the 2 day event. So by running a simulated trading session, delegates to see exactly what Nick sees when he’s trading, how he reacts and what he is looking for.
