October 20 2009 – Earnings overlooked

US Commentary

Some weaker housing data overshadowed some good results by bellwether companies, although Yahoo reported strong earnings after the bell. The housing data suggested that the recovery may stall if tax incentives are halted. We still have another week or so of earnings and expect volatility to remain in place before a renewed trend is established. We’ll continue to play it cautiously until earnings are out of the way.
