ASX Commentary

Weekly Trend: Down
Daily Trend: Down
Daily Momentum: ___ Down

Despite a pretty strong night in the US overnight, the Australian market had a lackluster day. Early gains were quickly rejected and eroded throughout the day. The end result being the XJO closing up just 0.6 of a point and the All Ordinaries finishing up 3.6 points. A weak close with potential resistance just above. Volume was again on the light side. The Energy and Information Technology sectors weighed on the market – closing down 0.8% and 0.9% respectively whilst the Utilities sector was the best of the gainers, closing up 1.2%. There is little lead as to what tomorrow may bring with US futures flat in night trading. Shangai and the AUD are also flat. The Nikkei is recovering some of recent losses, currently up more than 4% at the time of writing.
