ASX Commentary

Weekly Trend: Down
Daily Trend: Down
Daily Momentum: ___ Down

Overnight the US markets took a little breather, the Down Jones closing down just less than 84 points. Oil, Gold and the Australian dollar also lost more ground. In night trading, the Dow Jones futures are up 40 points at the time of writing. Perhaps our market had one eye on this, although it has been determined to almost do the opposite to the US lately. Locally, the XJO began the day with more losses on the open and then proceeded to recoup those and more through the rest of the day. An afternoon rally resulted in it closing up 13.6 points or just 0.3%. Telstra had a bumper day, up 1.4% which put the Telecommunications sector at the top of the gainers along with the Energy sector; both up 1.4%. Others to fare well included the Gold, Metals/Mining and Materials sectors.
