ASX Commentary

Weekly Trend: Down
Daily Trend: Down
Daily Momentum: ___ Down

Quiet trading continues, the market losing ground in morning trade and making much of that back thanks to an afternoon rally, the XJO still down 0.4% at day’s end however. Resource stocks came under some pressure after metals and energy futures were mostly down overnight – the Gold sector suffering most closing down 2.9%. News from Europe has been quiet of late with the holiday season upon us, but an Italian bond sale tonight has the potential to move the markets – which way is anyone’s guess. For now, the trend remains down on our market which has diverged from US markets lately. A short trading day on the ASX tomorrow, closing at 2.10pm EDST.
