ASX Commentary

Weekly Trend: Down
Daily Trend: Up
Daily Momentum: ___ Up

A much better performance today after yesterdays disappointment. Strength into the close were held as traders gained confidence that last US earnings may not have been an aberration and that there could be some underlying truth that the US economy is lifting. It’s too early to really qualify it but some are taking the results to heart so far and shrugging off other bad news. The trend situation is now cloudy. We’re stuck at a possible turning point, albeit our technical research is still looking for another leg lower into October. If US earnings keep the punters happy then we could be in for some follow through strength and therefore a more elongated bounce than we’ve been looking for.
